Season: Summer
Difficulty: Easy and Quick
Although this dish can be made year round, it's particularly nice in the summer when the temperature is hot and one doesn't feel like eating hot, steaming food. It can be serve at room temperature. This recipe is really very simple–just a platter of bright green broccoli with a little seasoning served at room temperature.

Yield: Makes 4 servings
Preparation Time: 15 minutes
1 1/2 pounds broccoli, trimmed
Extra-virgin olive oil to taste
Freshly squeezed lemon juice to taste (optional)
Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
You can steam or boil the broccoli. Bring a large pot of water to a boil and cook the broccoli for 6 to 7 minutes at most. Drain in a strainer or colander and plunge in ice water or run under cold tap water if eating immediately, otherwise set aside in a serving platter and break into florets and drizzle with olive oil, lemon juice (if using), salt, and pepper. Serve at room temperature or slightly warm.
